Jan 9 non-working holiday in Pangasinan

Posted by assf69 on January 9, 2009

It is another holiday for the province of Pangasinan as Malacañang has declared January 9 a special non-working holiday in Pangasinan as the province, site of a major landing of US liberation forces during World War II, marks Veterans’ Day.

Proclamation No. 1700 says the holiday will give Pangasinenses the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

The day marks the 64th anniversary of the Lingayen Gulf landing by Allied forces led by General Douglas MacArthur, which helped advance the liberation of the Philippines from the Japanese in 1945.

The Archdiocesan School of San Fabian (ASSF) is observing this day as a holiday for all students and teachers.
